In the first Super Over of the T20 World Cup, Namibia defeated Oman

Namibia defeated Oman by 11 runs in the first super over of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

All-rounder David Wiza and skipper Gerhard Erasmus came in to bat in the Super Over for Namibia, while Bilal Khan bowled for Oman.

Visa hit a four off the first ball and then a six off the second, followed by two off the third ball and a run off the fourth.

Captain Erasmus hit two fours on the fifth and sixth balls to score 21 runs and Oman got a target of 22 runs to win in the super over.

Aqib Ilyas and Naseem Khushi came in to bat for Oman while David Wiza bowled for Namibia, Naseem Khushi got out for 2 runs followed by Zeeshan Maqsood.

Aqib Ilyas scored 7 runs and Zeeshan scored one run, and so Oman managed to score only 10 runs in the Super Over.

First innings

On the first ball of the innings, Oman’s opening batsman Keship Prajapati went to the pavilion after getting lbw to Trumpelman’s ball, while Trumpelman also showed the way to Oman’s captain Aqib Ilyas on the second ball of his first over.

For Oman, Khalid Kiel was the highlight with 34 runs off 39 balls, while Zeeshan Maqsood scored 22 runs off 20 balls and Ian Khan scored 15 runs off 21 balls.

Omani batsman Kaleemullah scored 11 runs off 9 balls while no other batsman could enter double figures.

Bowling in the first innings, Namibia’s Trumpelman managed to get 4 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs, David Welle got 3, Gerhard 2 and Bernard Schulz got 1 wicket.

Second innings

In the second innings against Oman, Namibia scored 109 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
